119th -- Thank You Lord

Many times we go through life without thanking God for the blessings that
He has bestowed upon us. We should remember to give thanks to the One who
sustains us from day to day and also to give Him praise for all the little
things that we hardly ever think about.

This is a good message that shows the many blessings that we have in our
lives that we don't always think about and thank God for. I hope you will
be blessed and encouraged by this message that simply says, Thank You Lord.

THANK YOU LORD

Thank you Lord for this sink of dirty dishes; we have plenty of food to
eat. Thank you for this pile of dirty laundry; we have plenty of nice
clothes to wear.

And I would like to thank you Lord, for those unmade beds; they were so
warm and comfortable last night. I know that many have no bed.

My thanks to you Lord, for this bathroom, complete with all the splattered
mess, soggy, grimy towels and dirty lavatory; they are so convenient.

Thank you for this finger-smudged refrigerator that needs defrosting so
badly; it has served us faithfully for many years. It is full of cold
drinks and enough leftovers for two or three meals. Thank you Lord, for
this oven that absolutely must be cleaned today; it has baked so many
things over the years.

The whole family is grateful for that tall grass that needs mowing and the
lawn that needs raking; we all enjoy the yard. Thank you Lord, even for
that slamming screen door. My kids are healthy and able to run and play.

Lord, the presence of all these chores awaiting me says; You have richly
blessed my family. I shall do them cheerfully and I shall do them gratefully.

Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings; Thank you
Lord, that I can hear. There are many who are deaf.

Even though I keep my eyes closed against the morning light as long as
possible, Thank you Lord, that I can see. There are many who are blind.

Even though I huddle in my bed and put off rising, Thank you Lord, that I
have the strength to rise. There are many who are bedridden.

Even though the first hour of my day is hectic, when socks are lost, toast
is burned, tempers are short and my children so loud, Thank you Lord, for
my family. There are many who are lonely.

Even though our breakfast table never looks like the pictures in magazines
and the menu is at times not balanced, Thank you Lord, for the food we
have. There are many who are hungry.

Even though the routine of my job is often monotonous, Thank you Lord, for
the opportunity to work. There are many who have no job.

Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day to day and wish my
circumstances were not so modest, Thank you Lord for life. Lord, Thank You!

The Bible declares in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 "In every thing give thanks:
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." Don't look
at the bad in things, but look at the good and you will always be content.
I heard a person once say "If you constantly look at the people that are
better off than you are, then you will never be satisfied in life, but if
you look at the people that are not as fortunate as you are, then you will
always be thankful for what you have."

I want you to be encouraged and remember the blessings in your life and
keep in mind the words of the Apostle Paul written in 1 Timothy 6:6-8 "Now
godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this
world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and
clothing, with these we shall be content."

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Psalm 34:1-4 "I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall
continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The
humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let
us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And
delivered me from all my fears."

1 Chronicles 16:8-12 "Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
Talk of all His wondrous works! Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of
those rejoice who seek the Lord! Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His
face evermore! Remember His marvelous works which He has done..."

Psalm 121:5-8 "The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your
right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. The
Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The
Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth,
and even forevermore."

Psalm 111:1-5 "Praise the Lord! I will praise the Lord with my whole heart,
In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation. The works of the
Lord are great, Studied by all who have pleasure in them. His work is
honorable and glorious, And His righteousness endures forever. He has made
His wonderful works to be remembered; The Lord is gracious and full of
compassion. He has given food to those who fear Him; He will ever be
mindful of His covenant."

All scriptures can be found in the New King James Version.
