1274th -- Message On Reading The Bible

I recently had an awesome revelation from the Lord that I would like to share with you. Not long ago I was getting ready to watch a minister preaching online who had a live stream going. In case you don't know, a live stream is where you can watch a live event that is taking place somewhere around the world right on your computer, smart phone or tablet. For those who are not able to travel to that event, but would still like to receive the benefits of being a “participant” they can view the event through the live stream if it is made available.

In order to see the minister preaching and receive a blessing through his sermon, I first had to go to his website, then I had to find the right link to click on so that I can watch the sermon. If I only went to the website without clicking on the live stream link, I wouldn't be able to watch the minister preach and receive the blessings that I hoped to receive. Thankfully I did click on the link and I was blessed by the message that he preached.

That is exactly how I believe the Word of God is with us. When we find ourselves in need of a blessing, a word of encouragement or affirmation or if we simply need direction for a decision that is impending, we have the Bible that we can go to and read and allow it to minister to our hearts through the direction of the Holy Spirit. What we must understand about God is that He has given us His Word to be our instruction manual for life. The Bible isn't just another book because this Holy Book is alive and has the power to transform our lives in ways that we can't think or imagine for ourselves. We read in Hebrews 4:12 “For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword...”

In order to receive the blessings that we need, we must not only own a Bible, but we must also open the Bible and receive what is written therein. To compare my live stream, it wasn't enough for me to go to the website, but I had to click on the link in order to see the minister preaching. It is the same thing with the Bible. We have to click the link which means we have to open up the Word of God and dedicate our time to read the stories, learn the lessons, adapt the morals, practice the commandments and most importantly follow the example that the Lord Jesus Christ has set for each of us.

Always remember and keep in mind that you have God's Living Word available to you 24 hours a day. Throughout its timeless pages you can receive the encouragement, inspiration, edification, correction, direction and leading that your soul yearns for. Don't allow the distractions of life to keep you separated from God through His Word. Forsake all else, but do not forsake the Lord because He is the One who will be there for you in your hour of need. (Psalm 118:5-10)

I encourage you to read the Bible every day. Allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you and guide you onto the best path for your life. When you acknowledge the Lord as the leader and sustainer of your life and you learn the promises of the Lord that are found throughout God's Word, you will never allow any temporary trial or setback to make you question God's plan and purpose for your life. You will become an unstoppable force for the Lord and He will use you in ways that you never thought or imagined for yourself before. (Psalm 18:25-33) (Psalm 138:8)

I encourage you again to delve deeply into the Word of God and make your life significant upon this earth until He calls you home.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

1 Peter 3:10-12 “For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers.”

Psalm 119:98-105 “Thou through Thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: for Thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Thy precepts. I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep Thy word. I have not departed from Thy judgments: for Thou hast taught me. How sweet are Thy words unto my taste yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

Psalm 91:1-4 “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”

Psalm 119:10-16 “With my whole heart have I sought Thee: O let me not wander from Thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee. Blessed art Thou, O LORD: teach me Thy statutes. With my lips have I declared all the judgments of Thy mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Thy testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate in Thy precepts, and have respect unto Thy ways. I will delight myself in Thy statutes: I will not forget Thy word.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
