1294th -- A Shining Moment

There are many people in this world who don't think their life is significant. They don't see themselves as special, unique and able to make a difference in their life and in this world. What we must all realize is that we are each created special and unique from anyone else. Our giftings are our own and are not shared with another. That is why we should always believe in ourselves and know that we can make a difference in our own life and in the lives of those around us. No matter how many times one has faltered and failed in times past, they can begin again and their life can be used in extraordinary ways. We simply have to make ourselves available to the Lord so that He may use us in ways that we have never thought of or imagined before. (Psalm 51:1) (Isaiah 6:8)

What I wish for every believer in Christ is that they continuously be heavenly minded knowing that this life is to be used to bring Glory and Honor to the Lord through our good works, acts and deeds. We are to use our life as a living testimony of God's goodness and let all people know that just as God has changed our life for the better, so can He do the same for their life. How do we make an impact one might ask? We do so by simply showing love in whatever capacity it may come. Whether sharing a kind word, doing a good deed or bestowing a loving act without motive, we can make a difference that will never be forgotten or erased. (Colossians 3:23-24) (Hebrews 12:1-3)

I pray that you think about your life and see how you may make your life impactful upon this earth. May God in heaven give you a renewed outlook on your life and show you how special and significant you really are. When we simply believe in ourselves as God believes in us, we will be unstoppable in what we can do for Him. May we all believe in ourselves, may we all surrender our will to the Lord and allow His will to take place in our life. If we do, there is no telling how many lives will be made better because of our simple life. (Psalm 138:8) (Isaiah 43:18-19)

I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to see that your life can be used in extraordinary ways

A SHINING MOMENT

I was never a starter for my high school football team. No matter how much I trained and how hard I practiced I was always on the second string. A few of us backups even jokingly called ourselves the bench boys and gave each other nicknames. Mine was “Splinter.”

During one of the last games of the year, though, there came a point when I finally made it onto the field with the starters. It was my big chance and I was determined to prove myself. It wasn’t long either before a fumble miraculously bounced its way into my hands. I saw the end zone and turned to run down the field for a touchdown. It was my shining moment and it felt so good. It lasted for about one second. That is when the shoulder pads of three opposing players crashed into my knees, stomach, and back all at once. It was Splinter’s first and last hurrah before heading back to the bench.

Since that time I have had a lot of shining moments in my life although most of them probably didn’t look that bright in the eyes of the world. I have come to see, however, that Heaven looks at life from a different viewpoint. Heaven sees life through God’s eyes and God’s eyes are always the eyes of love. When I open a door for someone, share a smile with a stranger, and laugh with my children then I know that I am glowing bright. When I stop to help another, pass on a kind word, and do a loving act then I know that I am shining in Heaven’s sight.

I have come to learn too that it is these shining moments that make up our lives here. When we finally meet God face to face we aren’t going to be asked how many touchdowns we scored but rather how many lives we touched.

May all of your moments here shine with joy. May you glow with Heaven’s goodness and light every single day. And may your entire life be a touchdown of love in God’s eyes.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Galatians 6:1-4 “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.”

Galatians 5:22-26 “...the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”

Philippians 2:3-7 “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.”

Ephesians 4:23-27 “And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.”

Psalm 34:11-15 “Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD. What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry.”
