1334th -- The Beautiful You

We should never put so much emphasis on the physical aspects of life. So many times we place our happiness in an object. We say to ourselves “If I get this thing then I will be happy, if I lose this much weight then I will be satisfied, if I reached this goal then I will be fulfilled.” If we play the “if” and “when” game we will always be found wanting because our life is always changing. Our thoughts change, our dreams change, our desires change. That is why I believe every person needs to be fulfilled from within before they can ever be fulfilled in their goals, dreams and desires. The void that so many have in their hearts can only be filled by the Lord. No object or possession, no goal or dream could satisfy the emptiness in ones heart. I believe the Lord left that void for Himself so that those who are constantly seeking to be fulfilled can finally realize that it is only God's Spirit that can give them true and lasting fulfillment. (Hebrews 13:5-6) (Isaiah 55:6-9)

That is exactly my testimony. I had all of the “things” that should make a person content, but in my heart I knew there was something great still missing. It wasn't until I opened my heart to the Lord Jesus and asked Him to be my personal Savior that my void was finally, completely and eternally filled. That is the goodness, mercy and grace of the Lord. We don't deserve to be forgiven of our many shortfalls, but we are. We were not worthy to have the spotless, blameless Lamb of God take our sins upon Himself and redeem us from our unrighteousness, but He did. Even now we are not good enough to call upon the Lord to make Him our Lord and Savior, but God was good enough for us. (John 1:29-36) (Romans 5:6-11)

If you are finding life unfulfilling like I did, I encourage you to invite the Lord Jesus into your heart like I did. He will change you in ways that you never thought or imagined would be possible. He will take away the old you and create a new you who will walk and talk and act and be a living witness of God's mercy and grace. All we should ever strive to do is be worthy of God's grace that is offered to us freely and without motive. I pray that you will realize your need for the Savior and make the wisest decision of your life to open your heart to Him. Jesus loves you more than you can wholly realize. Open the door and meet Him! (2 Corinthians 5:17-20) (Revelation 3:20)

I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to see that it is what lies within you that really matters in life.

THE BEAUTIFUL YOU

We place great emphasis on a narrow idea of physical beauty.

In an American history discussion group, the professor was trying to explain how, throughout history, the concept of "beauty" changes with time. “For example,” he said, “take the 1921 Miss America. She stood five-foot-one inch tall, weighed 108 pounds and sported a 30-inch bust, a 25-inch waist and 32-inch hips. How do you think she'd do in today's version of the contest?”

The class fell silent for a moment. Then one student piped up, “Not very well.”

“Why is that?” asked the professor.

“For one thing,” the student pointed out, “she'd be way too old.”

Good point -- she'd be way too old. But beauty is a peculiar thing, for it means something a little different to each of us. And it isn't always about appearance. Sometimes beauty is a quality that softly shines from inner depths. And you may actually radiate more inner beauty than you realize.

An elderly woman noticed that her granddaughter felt embarrassed by her freckles. "I love your freckles," she said, kneeling beside the girl and admiring her face.

“Not me,” the child replied.

“Well, when I was a little girl I always wanted freckles,” the grandmother said, tracing her finger across the child's cheek. “Freckles are beautiful.”

The girl looked up. “Really?”

“Of course,” said her grandmother. “Why just name one thing that's prettier than freckles.”

The little girl peered into the old woman's smiling face, aglow with kindness and love. “Wrinkles,” she answered softly.

The physical beauty of youth will fade. But the beauty of a spirit, when nurtured, can grow forever.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Isaiah 55:6-9 “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Ezekiel 33:11 “Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?”

2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

Psalm 34:4-8 “I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto Him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.”

Psalm 61:1-4 “Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto Thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For Thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in Thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of Thy wings. Selah.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
