1335th -- A Little Closer To Heaven

It is so easy for anyone to have a beautiful day. It doesn't matter how many troubles they may be facing or how many trials are in their path. If they simply took a moment and blocked out the worrying thoughts in their mind and simply allowed their heart to breathe in the beauty of God's creation that surrounds them, I believe their hearts rest would infiltrate their mind so that it may be at rest as well. What does looking at the sky, the trees, the flowers and even the growing grass do for us? It shows us that God is in control of all things. The Earth with its seasons brings to us a continuous and glorious change that happens right before our eyes and shows us God's provision in each season. Jesus says it better than I ever can. Concerning worry He declares in Luke 12:27-28 “Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You men of little faith!” (Psalm 103:1-5) (Matthew 6:31-34)

The Lord Jesus calls the worrisome “men of little faith” and I believe it is because it takes faith to believe what we can’t physically see right now. We can’t see an answer to our problem; we can’t see a solution to what ails us, but if we walk by faith and not by sight that is when miracles will take place in our life. We have to believe God before we can see God move on our behalf. We can’t be doubting Thomas’s and only believe it after we see it. That is why Jesus declared in John 20:29 “…Thomas, because thou hast seen Me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” (2 Corinthians 5:7) (Hebrews 12:1-3)

Looking at the scenery of God's creation reminds us that He has everything under control in this world and because He does our life is under control just the same. Don't allow the storms to make you question, don't allow any uncertainty to make you fear or worry, but with a renewed and refreshed outlook lift up your eyes and give thanks and praise to God that He is with you, has not left you and that in His sight all is well with your soul. Focus more on the good in your life, be determined to become better, wiser and stronger through the trial and know that your latter end is sure to be better than any of your former beginnings. Give God praise and thanks that His arm is not shortened that it cannot save and that His ear is not heavy that it cannot hear your hearts cry. (Isaiah 49:13-16) (Isaiah 59:1)

I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to have a renewed and refreshed outlook on your life and allow the vast beauty of God’s creation to encourage your heart knowing that God cares for you even more.

A LITTLE CLOSER TO HEAVEN

It is a lovely Autumn day as I write this. An evening rain has led to a brisk morning. There is a freshness in the air too that makes my lungs expand with joy. The sun is up, slowly warming the world with its heat and light. On the trees the green leaves are rapidly changing to wondrous colors created by God’s own hand. The yellows and gold's are shining in the sunlight. The brilliant oranges are putting the pumpkins to shame. The bright reds are making the mountains ablaze with their beauty. The darker reds, burgundies and even browns are starting to appear as well. Just looking at them fills my heart with happiness. On glorious days like these it is easy to feel a little closer to Heaven.

It isn’t just in the midst of Autumn’s wonder that I feel closer to Heaven, though. I have felt closer to Heaven in the sweat of Summer’s hottest days. I have felt closer to Heaven walking home during the heavy showers of Spring. I have even felt closer to Heaven during the shortest, coldest, and darkest days of Winter. No matter what the season or the weather, I have felt closer to Heaven every time I have chosen to love.

You see, it is love that is the color of our souls. It is love that is the warmth of our hearts. It is love that brings the light of God into us and shines the light of God out of us. It is love that we all are called to give to the world. When we choose to love everyday is a glorious day. When we share love everyday feels a little closer to Heaven.

As you journey through the seasons of your own life here I hope that you always make love your traveling companion. I hope that each step you take together brings you closer to Heaven. I hope that you inspire other souls to join you as well until the day your travels bring you home again into your Heavenly Father’s loving arms.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Isaiah 40:28-29 “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of His understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength.”

Hebrews 13:5-6 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”

Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Psalm 34:17-19 “The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.”

Psalm 28:6-8 “Blessed be the LORD, because He hath heard the voice of my supplications. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him. The LORD is their strength, and He is the saving strength of His anointed.”
