1359th -- The Child Within

We should always remember to have a lighthearted attitude towards life. So many people today take life so seriously that they allow every trial or challenge in their path to take their joy away and make them want to worry about and complain over their situation. What we must do as children of the Most High God is to have an unwavering trust that whatever comes our way will be to our benefit and betterment in the end. God in His infinite wisdom has reassured us time and again to have faith in His ability, to trust in His provision and to know that He is faithful to those who trust in Him. As believers in the Lord Jesus our faith confession must match our walk confession. We can’t say we believe and then with our actions we show worry, fear and doubt.
We must think, speak, act and do as if all is well with us even when the storms are raging their hardest against us. Our countenance should reflect peace and not worry, joy and not fear, strength and not uncertainty. (Romans 8:28) (Isaiah 26:3-4)

No matter what you may be going through I encourage and challenge you to have a childlike trust in the Lord. Remember a time when you were a child and you trusted that your mother or father had you held securely in the strength of their arms. You were not worried about anything because you knew you were safe in their loving arms. That is what we must do now in this present time towards our Heavenly Father. Having a childlike trust that your needs will be met, that your life will get better, that your pressing situation will be met not like you thought or imagined, but in ways that you never thought were possible because our God is able to do exceeding, abundantly above and beyond what we think is possible. When you do lead your life by faith and not by sight and have that unwavering trust in the Lord, we will see your days pass by much more peacefully than you ever thought would be possible. (Isaiah 55:6-9) (Ephesians 3:20-21)

I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to keep joy at the center of your being knowing that your life will be much more enjoyable when it is handled with eyes of faith that all will be well with you.

THE CHILD WITHIN

I got that look from my daughter again the other day. It is the look that says: “Dad, will you please just act your age?” You see, my daughter is growing up fast and is on her way to becoming a beautiful, young woman. Even though she is still a teenager she already has the maturity and wisdom of an adult. I, on the other hand, have been busy enjoying my second childhood ever since my first one ended. It seems strange to my daughter then that sometimes she appears to be the older and more grown up of the two of us.

What my daughter doesn’t realize, though, is that I used to be a child, teenager, and young adult myself. I can distinctly remember what it was like to be each one of them. In fact, all three of them still live on inside of me. I can still choose to be anyone of them I wish. While I know that I have to be an adult most of the time, I also know that being a child is a lot more fun.

Children are so much closer to their love. Children are so much closer to their laughter. Children are so much closer to their joy. Children are so much closer to their light than we adults are. They seem to know instinctively what most of us have forgotten: that God loves us and wants us to be happy in our lives here. That is why no matter how old, tired, and wrinkled this body of mine may get, inside of it there will always beat the heart of a child. Our souls may be eternal, but I see no reason why they can’t also be forever young.

Don’t be afraid to live with the joy of a child. Don’t be afraid to love with the heart of a child. Don’t be afraid to laugh with the delight of a child. It is your childlike soul that will light the way to the Kingdom of Heaven. It is your childlike heart that will bring you to oneness with God. It is your childlike spirit that will fill your life here with happiness. Let the child within you out then. You may get that look from time to time, but the joy is worth it.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Psalm 1:1-3 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in His law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Psalm 28:6-8 “Blessed be the LORD, because He hath heard the voice of my supplications. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him. The LORD is their strength, and He is the saving strength of His anointed.”

Psalm 34:11-15 “Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD. What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry.”

Psalm 103:2-5 “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.”
