1399th -- Prince

PRINCE

On April 21, 2016 the musical artist Prince passed away. He was only 57 years old and was known the world over for his many gifts, talents and abilities musically, artistically and fashionably. What many people didn't know is that he was hooked on painkillers. He had hip surgery in 2010 and was prescribed medication for pain and it is believed that he was never able to stop taking the pain medication from then on. What looked like a completely normal, healthy and well able person was actually behind the scenes struggling to maintain “normality”.

What I started thinking about when I heard this news report was that how many people struggle in their life without sharing their struggles with others? They feel like they must carry their burden alone because it would be “shameful” or “less than honorable” to share such private problems. That should never be the case with anyone. When we have trouble in our life, we should share it with those we know and trust so that we may receive the help we need right when we need it. We don't have to go through the darkness alone. We don't have to travel through this life thinking that nobody cares. People care for our well-being more that we can ever fully know, but we must realize that we are loved and cared about so that we can share our hurts, our pains, our struggles and our setbacks.

No matter who you are and no matter how tough your situation may seem to you right now, I want you to know that there is help. You can call your local professionals and confide in them, you can speak to your family and friends and let them know of your struggles so that they may be able to carry your burden with you and help you to overcome anything and everything that seems impossible to you right now. If you are struggling don’t feel helpless. Don’t feel alone. Don’t carry your burden secretly thinking that there is no help. There is help available, just seek it, ask for it and receive it. (Psalm 46:1-3) (Matthew 11:28-30)

Don't allow pride or ego to keep your life locked up in chains. Break free from the enemy's strongholds, trust that your life can get back on track by receiving the help you need today. God is able to take our mess and turn it into a miracle and use our tests and turn them into our testimony. Our present does not have to define our future. We can become better, wiser and stronger because of the trials and challenges that we faced. It is possible to begin again. It is possible to make our life significant so that our past experiences can be used as steppingstones for our better, brighter and much more beautiful future. (2 Corinthians 5:17) (Philippians 4:6-7)

I pray that you take this message to heart if you are facing struggles that seem too impossible to overcome. Don’t let your life become a statistic. Break free, seek help, rise above, and believe me you will be proud of yourself because you didn’t stay in the darkness, but wisely sought after the light that will help you to become the person that God created you to be. Always remember that with man it may be impossible, but with God all things are possible. (1 John 1:5-10) (Luke 18:27)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Galatians 6:1-4 “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.”

Romans 12:9-10 “Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.”

Colossians 3:15-16 “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

Psalm 91:14-16 “Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him My salvation.”

Psalm 56:9-11 “When I cry unto Thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me. In God will I praise His word: in the LORD will I praise His word. In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
