1412th -- Cookies

No matter how bleak things may seem and no matter how discouraging the news report may be we should always remember and keep in mind that light always dissipates darkness, good will overcome evil and every problem that seems so overwhelming right now will be resolved before we know it. That is why we should always stay in peace and never allow what is happening all around us to enter into us and change our mindset. The Bible declares in Isaiah 26:3 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee.” When we look past our present troubles and focus more on the faithfulness of God we will not be moved though the earth be removed and the mountains be cast into the midst of the seas. We will know that nothing can happen in this world without God knowing about it and making provision for us so that in the end all will be well. We just need to have the deep and assured knowing that God is still on the Throne and has our life secured in the palms of His hands. (Psalm 46:1-2) (2 Corinthians 9:8)

Be encouraged to always let your light shine brightly in this dark and depressed world. Let us be the Beacon of hope that others are drawn to and would want to emulate. We don’t have to fret and worry as the world does because we know in Whom we have believed. The Lord Jesus declares in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” We have the assurance that we can rest in God’s peace no matter what is going on all around us. We can allow the light that is within our hearts to shine brightly into the lives of those around us. We can encourage, we can inspire, we can motivate, we can challenge and by our life’s example we can show that goodness still exists and that love will conquer all. (Matthew 5:16) (Romans 12:9-10)

I encourage you again to take it up on yourself to be a world changer by simply helping to change someone else’s outlook for the better. When we are fortunate enough to witness a positive change take place in someone else’s life we will never cease from allowing the Lord to work through our lives.

I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to always be a vessel that God can work through to be a blessing in this dark and dreary world.

COOKIES

I had just picked up my son from the sheltered workshop for the handicapped where he works part-time. We were driving home listening to music on the radio when suddenly a news break came on. It appeared that a reality television star had just wasted 10 million dollars on a wedding for a marriage that lasted 72 days. The next story predicted that BILLIONS of dollars could be spent on negative attack ads in the coming election year. I sighed and wondered about this weird and crazy world we live in. "Is there any hope for us at all?” I thought.

“Dad, I shared my cookies!” I turned my head to see my son’s sparkling eyes. He started telling me how he had shared the cookies I had put in his lunch box that morning with some of the other handicapped people who worked at the sheltered workshop. I smiled and told him what a great boy he was. Then I realized that God had instantly answered the question in my mind with the sweet voice and loving example of my own son.

Is there any hope for us at all? Yes there is! It lies in the beautiful souls of people like my son. It lies in the caring hearts of people like you and me. It lies in the common sense of all of us who know that it is better to give than to receive, that people are far more important than profits, and that when you stop to help even one person you change the world for the better.

Yes it is a crazy and weird world we live in. It is a world of warped values where inequality and stupidity often go hand in hand. Yet, in this world live so many caring souls, so many loving hearts, and so many joyful spirits shining their light for all to see. There is hope for us all then. Our choices are clear and the path of love lies straight before all of us. All we need to do is take it and walk it in joy. All we need to do is grasp the hands of those we meet along the way, stroll together in God’s sunshine, and maybe even share a few cookies together.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Psalm 28:7-8 “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him. The LORD is their strength, and He is the saving strength of His anointed.”

Psalm 34:11-15 “Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD. What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry.”

Joshua 1:9 “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

Psalm 37:23-25 “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and He delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with His hand. I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”

Psalm 119:10-16 “With my whole heart have I sought Thee: O let me not wander from Thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee. Blessed art Thou, O LORD: teach me Thy statutes. With my lips have I declared all the judgments of Thy mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Thy testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate in Thy precepts, and have respect unto Thy ways. I will delight myself in Thy statutes: I will not forget Thy word.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
