1421st -- The Walk

We should never allow our life to become stagnant thinking that our past failures will hinder any chance of having future successes. What we must realize and recognize is that our past does not define our future. We who have confessed our shortfalls to the Lord and received His complete forgiveness can rest in that forgiveness and move forward in life confident that God can and will use our simple life in extraordinary ways. When we in full humility ask the Lord to lead and guide us onto the best path I believe God will honor our prayer and use us in ways that we never thought or imagined would be possible. Our job is to be believers and not doubters. We can begin again, we can rise up and we can make a difference even when we don’t see how it’s possible right now. The Bible reminds us to let go of the past and believe for a new beginning as we read in Isaiah 43:18-19 “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.” (Psalm 51:7-13) (Ezekiel 11:17-20)

God is able to do the impossible for us when we acknowledge His provision and sustenance. Humility goes such a long way with the Lord because to recognize our frailty and confess our weakness shows God that we have no pride or ego, and when we call upon the Lord we show our confession of faith that He is able to do what we can’t do. My prayer is for each of us to recognize our inabilities so that we may be quick to call upon the Lord who is more than able to meet our needs, to inspire our next steps, to lead us onto the path that is higher than our highest imaginings. The Bible declares in 1 Peter 5:5 -7 “...Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble. Therefore humble yourselves under the Mighty Hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (Mark 10:27) (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Be encouraged to see that it is to your benefit to be humble before the Lord and walk according to His statutes. God has given us the guidebook to life which is the Holy Bible and if we adhere to its instructions and follow the guidance written therein we can and should expect to live a full and blessed life. God has not failed any person who has put their trust in Him. May we continue that same tradition and trust the Lord every day of our life so that it may be blessed and fortunate enough to also be a blessing to someone else. (Proverbs 4:20-22)

I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to walk faithfully with the Lord knowing that He will always lead you down the right path that will be to your benefit and to your betterment.

THE WALK

Did you ever have one of those dreams that seemed to go on forever? I had one like that last night. I was walking down an old, side road that I used to walk along as a teenager. I wasn’t quite sure where I was headed, but I felt very determined to get there. Like in many dreams time seemed fluid and people seemed ageless. As I walked along I kept meeting people from both my past and my present. I saw both my Mom and my Grandma who have passed away and I was able to give them both one more hug. I ran into many childhood friends and we talked, joked, and laughed just like we were kids again.

Still, I kept walking hoping to reach wherever I was headed. Around every curve, though, there was something new. I saw strangers in need and stopped to help them. I found ancient books and gemstones along the side of the road and shared them with others. I met a smiling, old man who happily shared his life’s wisdom with me and then I lovingly passed it on to young children further down the road. With every few steps it seemed there was a fresh adventure in learning and love. I never did get where I was going and woke up feeling like I had lived a lifetime in a single night. It bothered me for a bit that I never did reach where I was headed, but then I realized that this dream was a lot like our years here. Maybe we are not supposed to reach where we are going, at least not in this life. Maybe it is the walk that matters.

As you walk through this life don’t keep your eyes so far down the road that you miss what is right in front of you. Life is a journey of joy. Life is a journey of learning. Life is a journey of love. Take God’s Hand then and delight in every step you take. You will meet a lot of wonderful people and go through a lot of interesting experiences. And you might just want to reach out your hand and help up a few hurting hearts who stumble along the way.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Proverbs 4:20-22 “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”

2 Corinthians 4:15-18 “For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

Psalm 16:8-11 “I have set the LORD always before me: because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. For Thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt Thou suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in Thy presence is fulness of Joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
