1509th -- The Home In Which We Live

We should always make it a habit to take inventory of our life. So many times we allow the negativity of this world to infiltrate our being and change how we think about our life and about those around us. What we must recognize is that what we allow into our being will either bless or curse our life and that is why we must be quick to root out any negativity, any contention, any strife and any hatred that may be trying to take our life off of the right track that leads to our victory. When we recognize the enemy’s plots against our life we will quickly choose love over hate, forgiveness over revenge, peacefulness over uncertainty and joy over worry because God is able to calm our hearts and steady our feet knowing that we are secure in the Hands of the Lord God Almighty. We don’t have to live in worry or fear because the God in whom we trust in and believe has our tomorrows already settled. (Proverbs 4:20-23) (Colossians 2:16-23)

Be encouraged to reevaluate what you are thinking about, what you are worried about and where your thoughts are taking you. Are you at peace or are you anxious at all times? Are you trusting the Lord or are you murmuring and complaining about what you don’t understand? Do you have the assurance that God is fighting the battles for you or do you worry about what your tomorrow holds? I believe we should live in the former in each of these categories because God has not failed, cannot fail and will not fail because His love for us is so great that it is incomprehensible in our own minds. We are not capable of understanding this level of love, but thankfully our lack of understanding does not hinder or block God’s love from infiltrating our life and setting our feet on solid ground that will not falter or fail beneath our feet. (Luke 6:47-49) (Jeremiah 31:3)

I encourage and challenge you again to live in peace within your heart; don’t fear the bad report, don’t worry about what others are saying about you, but with a quiet confidence sing in your heart praises and thanks to the Lord confidently acknowledging and accepting that no matter what may come your way, all will be well in the end. I believe that kind of faith can move God to move mountains on your behalf. All He is looking for is for us to believe His Word and walk according to His statutes. When we do everything becomes possible and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and calm our minds. (Isaiah 26:3-4) (Mark 11:22-26)

I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to become introspective over your life to see what changes need to be made so that your life may be better than it is right now.

THE HOME IN WHICH WE LIVE

I spent this morning cleaning up the home in which I live. Now I am not talking about the house I am sitting in right now. As I look around I can see the sink is still full of dirty dishes. Dust is starting to collect on the pictures, counter tops, and even my computer again. Dirt needs to be swept up from the floor and pet hair needs to be cleaned off the couch. The water in the turtle’s aquarium has to be changed. Two loads of dirty laundry need to be washed and dried. And the bathrooms could really use a cleaning again too.

Yet, as I look at my dirty, little house I still have to smile, because I know that the home in which I live is clean right now. That home is my soul. When I woke up this morning I noticed that it too had become cluttered, messy, and dusty again. I wasn’t about to let it stay that way for long, though. I have learned the hard way that a messy soul leads to a messed up day and that messed up days lead to a wasted life.

I spent the morning then cleaning my soul from top to bottom. I swept the negative thoughts from my mind and the harmful feelings from my heart. Worries, anger, hatred, and fear were tossed in the garbage can. Jealousy, envy, judgments, and desires were gathered up and thrown out. I polished the furniture with a soothing prayer. I washed down the walls with gratefulness to God. I freshened the air with the sweet scent of love and when I was done I felt peaceful and happy in my home once more.

The house in which I sit may need a lot of work, but it will have to wait its turn. The home in which I live is what I am most concerned about. I hope that the same is true for you. I hope that you always strive to keep your soul bright, beautiful, and full of God’s love and light. Remember when you die you will leave your house behind, but you will take your home with you.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Proverbs 9:10-12 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be multiplied, And years of life will be added to you. If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, And if you scoff, you will bear it alone.”

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; "that you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”

Philippians 4:11-13 “Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Hebrews 13:5-6 “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: 'The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?'”

All scriptures can be found in the New King James Version.
