195th -- Yesterday And Tomorrow

Many times in life we waste so much time thinking about our yesterdays. It
is important that we recognize that Yesterday is gone and nothing we do can
bring back or fix yesterday's mistakes. We as God's children are to focus
on the bright future we have ahead of us and not fall for the enemy's lies
who tries constantly to make us believe that our best days are behind us.
I want you to know that you have great days ahead of you, so be encouraged
in the Lord and know that your tomorrows are greater than you can ever
think or imagine. (Jeremiah 29:11-13) (Titus 2:11-15) (Ephesians 3:20)

I hope this story ministers to your heart to focus on Today and not worry
so much about what happened yesterday and also to not fear what tomorrow
may bring. I hope you will be impacted by today's message.

YESTERDAY AND TOMORROW

There are two days in every week about which we should not worry-two days
that should be kept free from any fear and apprehension. One of these days
is Yesterday, with its mistakes and cares, its aches and pains, its faults
and blunders. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. All the
money in the world cannot bring back Yesterday. We cannot undo a single act
we performed; we cannot erase a single word we said; we cannot rectify a
single mistake. Yesterday has passed forever beyond recall. Let it go.

The other day we should not worry about is Tomorrow, with its possible
adversities, its burdens, its large promise, and poor performance. Tomorrow
also is beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow's sun will rise either in
splendor or behind a mass of clouds-but it will rise. And until it does,
we have no stake in Tomorrow, because it is as yet unborn.

That leaves us but one day-Today! And a person can fight the battles of
just one day.

Yesterday and Tomorrow are futile worries. Let us, therefore, resolve to
journey no more than one day at a time.

By Robert Burdette

The Bible tells us that we should not boast about tomorrow because we know
not what it may bring. While I truly believe God has great plans for each
believer's future, we should still focus on today and enjoying today's
special gift which is called, the present. The simple things in life
bring the greatest Joy. The world would have us to believe that joy and
happiness only comes from material possessions and prideful recognition,
but I believe simple things like going out for dessert with your family,
reading a special book to your child or simply spending time enjoying your
friends and family in the cool of the summer day can compete against and
even pass over what the world tries to define as joy and happiness.
(Proverbs 27:1) (Jeremiah 29:11) (1 John 2:14-17)

I encourage you to do something different this day, this week and this
month. Maybe it's something that you have been wanting to do for a long
time, but never made the time to do it. Call that friend that you have not
spoken to in a while. Invite your spouse to go out on a date with you.
Do something that you have not done before so that you may enjoy today. I
believe by doing so you will be bringing the Joy and Happiness that God
wishes for you to have back into your life. (3 John 2) (John 16:23-24)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Matthew 6:31-34 Jesus declares
"Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall
we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all
these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you
need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His
righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do
not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.
Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."

Proverbs 3:1-6 "My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my
commands; For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you.
Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write
them on the tablet of your heart, And so find favor and high esteem In the
sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not
on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall
direct your paths."

2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new
creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."

Philippians 3:13-14 "Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended;
but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching
forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the
prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

All scriptures can be found in the New King James Version.
