220th -- Message On Choosing Wisely

I hope you are doing well and in the best of health. I am doing very well
and thankful to the Lord for another day that He has given us. Recently
the Lord spoke to my heart to write a message on the subject of Choice.
Making choices is something that each of us have to do many times each and
every day. The choices that we make not only determine how our days turn
out, but more importantly how our life turns out. I hope this message on
the power of choice speaks to your heart to be careful of your everyday
decisions because they will determine your life's path.

The Lord declares in Deuteronomy 30:19 "…I have set before you life and
death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy
seed may live." God has given mankind a free will to choose the direction
of their life's path. He has laid before us good and evil, blessing and
cursing, the right path and the wrong path. It is up to us to choose
whether we live a life of blessings and prosperity or live a life of
poverty and lack. It is our choosing that determines which path our life
will take. We know that God is no respecter of persons and when we follow
God's laws, the Bible says we will be blessed coming in and blessed going
out. But there is a reverse side to that equation. If we rebel against
God and do our own thing, then the Bible is also true when it says we will
be cursed coming in and cursed going out. The certainty of either outcome
is based upon the decisions and choices that we make.
(Deuteronomy 28:1-19) (Acts 10:34)

We need to always keep in mind that the choices that we make define our
life. It is our choice to meditate on things above or think on things
below. It is our choice to either eat healthily and strengthen our body
or eat chemically filled foods that hurt and abuse our body. It is our
choice to tithe our income and give to God what rightfully belongs to Him
or steal from God and be selfish with our finances. It is our choice
whether we live in abundance or live in lack. It is our choice whether we
go to heaven or go to hell when we die. We make choices that are very
important whether we realize it or not and we are to never allow the enemy
to tell us that our choices will not have any consequences. We will reap
what we sow. We should not think that making bad decisions will be
returned with good reward. (Colossians 3:2) (Malachi 3:8-10) (Gal. 6:7-8)

This message is not one of condemnation because you have made past
mistakes, but rather a challenge to you to make Godly and thought out
decisions each and every day. Many times we make rash decisions that are
soon regrettable. We need to remind ourselves that we have a very real
enemy that is trying to bring us down with his temptations and deceit. The
devil loves to bring temptations our way to see if we will choose life or
death. The Bible is very clear in that choosing the things of the flesh
will bring sin and sin when it is finished will bring forth death. The
devil loves to glorify that which we know in our heart is not right. The
enemy will come to you with temptations of pornography, alcohol, drugs and
even rebellion. It is in this time of decision making that we say no to
the devil and choose life instead. (John 8:44) (James 1:13-15) (Prov. 5:1-8)

If you have fallen into sin because of bad decisions that you've made in
the past, I do have good news for you. God in His infinite grace and
mercy is close enough to you to forgive you and cleanse you from all
unrighteousness. I encourage you to think about your choices to see if
changes need to be made. I encourage you also to call upon the Lord and
repent from your sins if you haven't already, and ask God to instill in
you a new heart that will make decisions for things above and not for
things beneath. God is faithful to hear your heartfelt prayers and calm
your troubled heart. (Ephesians 2:1-7) (1 John 1:7-9) (Ezekiel 36:25-27)

Make Godly choices that will make you proud when you stand before God on
your day of Judgment. Life is short and eternity is long, so let us go
forward with our lives choosing to live for the Lord with all of our
heart, mind, body and soul. (2 Corinthians 4:18) (Joshua 24:15) (Mark 12:30)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Galatians 6:7-8 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man
soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of
the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the
Spirit reap life everlasting."

James 1:13-17 "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for
God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth He any man: But every
man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then
when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is
finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every
good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the
Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."

Proverbs 3:29-33 "Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth
securely by thee. Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done
thee no harm. Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. For
the froward is abomination to the LORD: but His secret is with the
righteous. The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but He
blesseth the habitation of the just."

Psalm 34:11-15 "Come, ye children, hearken unto Me: I will teach you the
fear of the LORD. What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days,
that he may see good? Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking
guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. The eyes
of the LORD are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry."
