515th -- Another Sunrise

It really is the simple things in life that bring the most Joy. Many people
believe the lie that they must reach a certain status in life to experience
true joy and fulfillment when in reality the Lord has supplied all that we
need to experience true peace and contentment. Doing simple things like
spending time with children who see life with a refreshed vision can impact
how we see life. Spending time outdoors looking at and enjoying God's
creation can do so much to fill our hearts with the omnipotence of our
Father in heaven. The Lord wishes for our Joy to be full and when we focus
on His creation, we can begin to see the beauty that surrounds us. Be
encouraged to spend extra time to see life with a renewed outlook realizing
that greatness surrounds you right where you are. (1 Timothy 6:6-8)

I hope this message both inspires and challenges your heart to not take
life for granted in this present time, but rather enjoy each day that God
has given you to its fullest.

ANOTHER SUNRISE

I had taken a few days off to visit friends in an area where we once lived.
It has become the tradition when I go there, I get up early so that I can
have enough time to stop for a cup of coffee and make my way to the pier
just in time for the sunrise. On this visit I barely made it.

By the time I was situated with my camera ready to shoot, the big red ball
had risen just above the horizon. I could hardly contain myself. Such
beauty. Such absolute undiminished beauty. The early morning with the ocean
is no ordinary thing for this sometimes-want-to-be beach bum.

Two cups of coffee, almost two rolls of film and nearly two hours later I
packed my gear and left. I left with a full heart because I had seen
another sunrise.

My heart was full because I can still see the sunrise. My eyes were able
to focus. My eyes could distinguish the colors and the shapes. I was able
to wake up and make my way to the pier. The ability to see is not something
to take for granted. I am thankful I could see the sunrise.

My heart was full because I am still excited about the sunrise. There were
times on the pier that morning I looked around to see if anyone noticed me
or thought I was silly for taking so many pictures of the sunrise. I was
concerned, but not concerned enough to stop. I was too afraid of missing a
picture that I might not see again. I am thankful that I can get excited
about a sunrise.

My heart was full because I can still be amazed by the sunrise. There are
so many things that amaze us today. Space shuttles come and go. We receive
clear pictures from around the world in a matter of seconds. Automobiles
talk to us, televisions interact with us, and telephones provide us with
information about the stock market. We can travel to distant places without
leaving the comfort of our living rooms, and without a ticket. We can be
dazzled, delighted, and elated by the advances in technology, but I am
thankful that I can still be amazed by the sunrise.

My heart was full because I can still be surprised by the sunrise.
Surprised by the beauty. Surprised by the peacefulness. Surprised by the
amazement. Surprised by the excitement. Surprised by the vision. Surprised
that so few were there to be surprised. I am thankful that I can still be
surprised.

My heart was full because I can still long for and enjoy time alone with
God. I could have stayed in bed and missed the sunrise. The day before was
long and no one would have blamed me. I could have ignored the alarm,
pulled the covers over my head and snoozed the day away. But, I didn’t
because I wanted to be alone with my Father by the pier. I am thankful that
I can still long for and enjoy time alone with God.

For some it would be no big deal? It’s just another sunrise. But, it is a
big deal. It was another sunrise.

Enjoy a sunrise,

Tom

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Psalm 8:3-6 “When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon
and the stars, which Thou hast ordained; What is man, that Thou art mindful
of him? and the son of man, that Thou visitest him? For Thou hast made him
a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put
all things under his feet.”

Psalm 34:1-4 “I will bless the LORD at all times: His praise shall
continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the
humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me, and
let us exalt His name together. I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and
delivered me from all my fears.”

James 1:2-5 “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers
temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire,
wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that
giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

Psalm 103:1-5 “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless
His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who
redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness
and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy
youth is renewed like the eagle's.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
