314th -- A Healthy Body And A Crippled Soul

In this life that we are living, it is important that we surrender our will
to the Lord and allow His will to be done through our lives. The Lord can
do great things through each of us, but He must first have a surrendered
heart ready to follow His leading. The Bible declares in Jeremiah 33:3,
"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty
things, which thou knowest not." The Lord promises to show us great and
mighty things and direct our life on to the best path as He sees fit, so
let us call upon the Lord with all eagerness ready to receive all that He
has for us. (Isaiah 6:8) (Luke 22:42) (Isaiah 30:21)

I hope today's message ministers to your heart to call upon the Lord
surrendering your will and asking His will to be done through your life.

A HEALTHY BODY AND A CRIPPLED SOUL

A young woman called Nancy had a disability and was confined to a
wheelchair, yet she developed a unique ministry to hurting and lonely
people. She placed an ad in the local newspaper that read: "If you are
lonely or have a problem, call me. I am in a wheelchair and seldom get out.
We can share our problems with each other. Just call. I'd love to talk."

Each week at least 30 calls come through to her, and she spends her day
counseling and comforting people. When asked how she became disabled, she
said, by trying to commit suicide. "I was living alone and had no friends.
I hated my job and was constantly depressed. So I decided to jump from the
window of my flat, but instead of being killed, I ended up in the hospital,
paralyzed from the waist down."

"That second night in the hospital, Jesus appeared to me and told me that
I'd had a healthy body and a crippled soul, but from then on I would have
a crippled body and a healthy soul. I gave my life to Christ right there
and then."

"When I got out of the hospital I tried to think of how a woman like me, in
a wheelchair, could do some good, and I came up with the idea of putting an
ad in the paper, and the rest, as they say, is history."

It is a sad truth that many times it is in our tragedy that we call upon
the Lord and ask for His strength and guidance. In His mercy, God answers
our call, but wouldn't it be wonderful if everything was going fine in our
life and still we call upon the Lord and ask for His strength and guidance.
Imagine how pleasing it would be to the Lord for Him to know that we call
upon God in good times to ask for direction and not only in the bad.

Let us call upon the Lord continually because it is in this knowing that
all direction and strength come from Him that we truly receive and
comprehend what it means to be in God's perfect will. (Ephesians 3:6-12)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Colossians 3:16-17 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all
wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And
whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God and the Father by him."

Ephesians 4:29-32 "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth,
but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace
unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are
sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and
anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all
malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."

1 Peter 4:7-11 "But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore
sober, and watch unto prayer. And above all things have fervent charity
among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. Use
hospitality one to another without grudging. As every man hath received
the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the
manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of
God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth:
that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be
praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
