32nd -- The Rose

This is a good story that reminds me of how I really do not know it
all and need to rely on God's everlasting knowledge. God is able
to do what we cannot do and is willing to help us, if we only humble
ourselves and ask Him for the help and guidance we all need.

I hope this story blesses you as it has blessed me.

THE ROSE

A young, new preacher was walking with an older, more seasoned preacher
in the garden one day and feeling a bit insecure about what God had for
him to do; he was inquiring of the older preacher. The older preacher
walked up to a rosebush and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told
him to open it without tearing off any petals. The young preacher looked
in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what
a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the WILL OF
GOD for his life and for his ministry. Because of his high respect for
the older preacher, he proceeded to Try to unfold the rose, while keeping
every petal in tact... It wasn't long before he realized how impossible it
was to do so. Noticing the younger preacher's inability to unfold the
rosebud while keeping it intact, the older preacher began to recite the
following poem...

UNFOLDING THE ROSEBUD

It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so sweetly,
When in my hands they fade and die.
If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I think I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?
So I'll trust in Him for His leading
Each moment of every day.
I will look to him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.
The pathway that lies before me,
Only my Heavenly Father knows.
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.

Read and mediate on these scriptures of guidance and trust:

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto
thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall
direct thy paths."

Jeremiah 29:11-13 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith
the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected
end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I
will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall
search for me with all your heart."

1 Peter 5:5-7 "Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder.
Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility:
for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble
yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you
in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."

Isaiah 55:8-9 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your
ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the
earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your
thoughts."

All scriptures can be found in the KJV.

I hope this message has encouraged you in many ways but mostly to know
that God will never leave you when you are depending on Him for guidance
and wisdom concerning certain situations and also for daily living.
