74th -- The Nail

No matter how worthless or unappreciated we may sometimes feel, God has a
plan and a purpose for our life. Never allow yourself to get down or
depressed because the enemy will use that to get you far from where God
wants you to be. The Lord says it best in Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the
thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and
not of evil, to give you an expected end." Be of good cheer and know that
if nobody else is there for you, God is there. He is a friend that
sticketh closer then a brother (Proverbs 18:24) and has big plans for you
to accomplish.

This is a good story that encouraged me to know that every person has a
specific place where God wants them to be. No matter how small the
position seems, it is important to get the whole plan accomplished. I
hope you will be encouraged by this story and know to never give up on
what the Lord has called you to do.

THE NAIL

As the story goes, they built a new church building and people came from
far and wide to see it. They admired its beauty! Up on the roof, a little
nail heard the people praising everything about the lovely structure--
except the nail! No one even knew he was there, and he became angry and
jealous. "If I am that insignificant, nobody will miss me if I quit!" So
the nail then released its hold, slid down the roof, and fell in the mud.

That night it rained and rained. Soon, the shingle that had no nail blew
away, and the roof began to leak. The water streaked the walls and the
beautiful murals. The plaster began to fall, the carpet was stained, and
the pulpit Bible was ruined by water. All this because a little nail
decided to quit!

But what of the nail? While holding the shingle, it was obscure but it was
also useful. Buried in the mud it was just as obscure, but now it was
useless and would soon be eaten up by rust!

I want you to be encouraged and know that however large or small your
service unto the Lord is, that is does make a difference in someone else's
life. Just because you don't see a difference does not mean that it was
not made. God's Word does not return void but will accomplish that which
He pleases. (Isaiah 55:11)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

1 Corinthians 12:12 "For as the body is one and has many members, but all
the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is
Christ."

Isaiah 55:11 "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it
shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I
please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

2 Corinthians 4:16-17 "For which cause we faint not; but though our
outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our
light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more
exceeding and eternal weight of glory."

All scriptures can be found in the King James Version.

We are ALL a part of the Lord's ministry, so never feel discouraged.
