92nd -- Message On Doer of The Word

I thank the Lord for His continued leading and anointing upon this
Ministry. I never plan on writing a whole message because usually there
is a story or poem that is the focus, but when I feel led by the Lord to
write a message, I like to obey because God always has something good He
wants me to share with you and so I hope you are blessed by today's
message. To God be all the Glory.

James 1:22 declares "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only…" It
is great to attend church and listen to the preacher speak on faith,
giving, and being a better representative of Christ, but if we merely
listen and not put into practice what we hear, then we are not reaching
the potential that God knows we can reach. I believe God laid this
scripture on my heart because many people have heard the Word, but still
are not putting it into practice.

The Bible says that faith cometh from hearing and hearing by the word of
God (Romans 10:17). If we are to be successful in getting healed in our
physical body, getting out of debt or reaching a certain goal that God has
laid on our hearts, then we need to put God's Word and promises into
effect. We cannot claim victory and then go on complaining of how we are
not healed, debt free, etc. This is in essence canceling out any and all
of the faith believing that we did beforehand.

James 1:23-24 goes on to say "For if anyone is a hearer of the word and
not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for
he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man
he was." In order for us to be successful in reaching a certain goal, we
need to be doers of the Word and not only hearers.

How can you and I be doers of the Word?

1. We need to spend time reading the Bible and learning who we are in
Christ. There are so many people who are not reaching their potential
because they do not know or do not claim God's promises. God is no
respecter of persons (Acts 10:34), so if He did it for one then He has to
do it for all, but we must know what those promises are in order to claim
and receive them. (Joshua 1:8) (2 Peter 1:2-4)

2. Live your life according to God's Word and follow the commandments and
guidelines He has set before us. Some people think God gave the Ten
Commandments just so we can't have fun or enjoy our life, but the truth
is, God in His infinite wisdom gave us these guidelines to protect us from
sin and all the wiles and tricks of the enemy (Exodus 20). God wishes to
increase your happiness and it is His pleasure to give you every good and
perfect gift. (James 1:17) (Luke 12:31)

3. Be steadfast and unmoved in your faith. Do what the Bible instructs us
to do. Love your neighbor, give to others with your whole heart not
looking for anything in return. Show the love of God through your actions
that they may see Him whom they do not know through you and God will be
faithful to reward you for being a doer of His Word.
(Mark 12:31) (Luke 6:35) (1 John 4:7-13)

The Bible says that faith without works is death (James 2:20), so I
encourage you to put some action behind your faith and stand strong,
unmoved by how bad things may look and know that if God has promised it,
then it will come to pass.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Psalm 118:8-9 "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in
man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes."

James 1:5-8 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth
to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But
let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a
wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man
think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is
unstable in all his ways."

James 1:22-25 "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only,
deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a
doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he
beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what
manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty,
and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the
work, this man shall be blessed in his deed."

All scriptures can be found in the King James Version.
