91st -- The Cracked Pot

I want you to know that God loves you just the way you are and no matter
how bad or discouraged you may sometimes feel, the Lord has a will and
plan for your life. Never allow the enemy to make you feel as if God has
forgotten you or does not care about meeting your needs. The Bible
declares that God knows what we need even before we ask Him (Matthew 6:8),
so you stay faithful and believe that your answer is on the way.

This is a great story of how we may sometimes feel worthless or not good
enough to meet people's standards, but in essence God will use our
imperfections to meet the needs of others as He sees fit in His perfect
and everlasting wisdom. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I have and
pray it speaks to your heart as it did mine.

THE CRACKED POT

A water bearer in India had two large pots, each hung on each end of a
pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it,
and while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of
water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master's house,
the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on
daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water
in his master's house.

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to
the end for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its
own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half
of what it had been made to do. After two years of what it perceived to be
a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. "I
am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you."

"Why?" asked the bearer. "What are you ashamed of?"

"I have been able, for these past two years, to deliver only half my load
because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to
your master's house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work,
and you don't get full value from your efforts," the pot said.

The water bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion
he said, "As we return to the master's house, I want you to notice the
beautiful flowers along the path."

Indeed, as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the
sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path, and this
cheered it some. But at the end of the trail, it still felt bad because it
had leaked out half its load, and so again it apologized to the bearer for
its failure.

The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only
on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because
I have always known about your flaw, and I took advantage of it. I planted
flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back
from the stream, you've watered them. For two years I have been able to
pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my master's table. Without you
being just the way you are, he would not have this beauty to grace his
house."

If you think about it, we all have cracks or flaws in our life, but that
doesn't mean we are any less loved by God or not able to do what He has
put in our heart to do. God knows exactly how to use each flaw that we
have and in doing so will bring glory and honor to His name, if we only
humble ourselves and allow Him to work in our lives.

Always try to keep in mind that there are no perfect people in the world.
Be sensitive to those around you and remember to say a kind word to those
who are down or discouraged, because that may be the water they needed to
see that they are special no matter what has happened in their life.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them
that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

Psalm 139:14-16 "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully
made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My
substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously
wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my
substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were
written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none
of them."

Jeremiah 1:4-8 "Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I
formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of
the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the
nations. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a
child. But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go
to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt
speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee,
saith the LORD."

All scriptures can be found in the King James Version.
